About Sarah

As a journalist and professional writer I love to dig beneath the surface to find the story, passion and interest within. I am employed part time at The Weekender Herald newspaper in the Adelaide Hills, volunteer at Radio Adelaide on the breakfast news team and have had freelance articles published through various outlets. I write, broadcast, record and publish news writing and profiles and also have a strong corporate background which enhances my capability to produce written content for organisations, whether aimed at an internal audience or for an external client base.

Balance

Remnants of Christmas cheer hang about my dust filled lounge room as I search for the motivation to move from one celebration to the next.

Stomping little feet and cheery voices rise and fall through the house and into the garden signalling the freedom of summer holidays.

I’m caught in the middle.

Stuck between cleaning up the scattered detritus of present opening, playdates and everyday life, or joining the fun and running with grass beneath our feet and the sun soaking into our faces.

The lure of forgetting all responsibilities is tempting, but adults can’t simply forget. The gift my parents gave me was the freedom to enjoy being a child, and it’s a gift I will pay forward.

But I want to be present. A part of the summer memories my children are building in their minds.

So I’ll compromise, walk the line, create a welcoming space while making the time.

Beginning

The first page of a blog must be the most difficult.

There’s so much pressure – not from the reader but from within.

Who knows where it will go, who will read it, what any of you will think?

However it unfolds, I hope my blog gives you something – inspiration to investigate something important to you, itchy feet and wanderlust, or just a simple five minutes of entertainment.

And so, the journey begins.
